Devotional // 8.3.2012 | Calvary’s Love
In Dr. Gary Chapman’s book called The Five Love Languages he writes about five different ways people like to communicate (and receive) love: acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch and gift-giving. Though most people usually express love best and most with their primary (and sometimes even secondary) love language, there are some who have mastered the skill of being multilingual in communicating and showing love. For many, the words ”I want you to know I love you, but I don’t know how to show you,” are frequent mind visitors.
Wanting to communicate love to friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, classmates and even strangers, yet not knowing how to start can get downright disappointing. We all look up to role models - people we admire - for ways to improve our love language (or learn others that are still a wee bit foreign).
…but we must remember this. None of our human role models are perfect.

One look at this world
One look at our suffering
Broke Jesus’ heart in two
He gave up heaven and became sin
It was love that brought Him to the cross
With His death He paid the
Price of sin and set us free
Knowing the price was ours to pay
He bore our guilt and shame, to give us life eternal
He was crucified for you and me
He was crucified for you and me
A look at the cross
A look at Mount Calvary
A look at the stone that was rolled away
A look at the empty tomb where Jesus was
Can fill a sinner’s heart with hope
With His death He paid the
Price of sin and set us free
Knowing the price was ours to pay
He is risen
Death couldn’t keep Him down
He was crucified but now He lives
Let us tell the world that He is risen
With His death He paid the
Price of sin and set us free
Knowing the price was ours to pay
But He is risen
Death couldn’t keep Him down
He was crucified but now He lives
Let us tell the world that He is risen
