Make Your Own Gourmet Lemonade Party | by Brooke
To prepare, crush the fruit you want to incorporate (kiwi, mango, cherries, limes, watermelon, etc) with some homemade lemonade. Then fill your bucket with the mixture and freeze. When ready, add these cubes to your lemonade and enjoy new flavors.
Last week, I had the most delightful late night shopping experience at the Farmers Market at Buford Highway. This particular Farmers Market has all sorts of food from various countries. …more like an international food market. It was my first time there. My best friend had told me wonderful things about it, and I was excited to finally shop there. It had been a while since I had gone to an Asian/International supermarket.
It was almost closing time when I entered the store, but a few seconds after entering, right then and there, near the entrance…were mangosteens! It had been ages since the last time I had eaten mangosteens. For those who are unfamiliar with this fruit, all I can say is this: IT. IS. THE. BEST. FRUIT. IN. THE. ENTIRE. WORLD. Period.
The guy mopping the floor near me was startled when I started squealing. It must have been a sight to see since I wasn’t quite sure whether I wanted to pick up a mangosteen, jump, take pictures of them (to send to my best friend), go in circles…or just pretend to be completely calm. Well, I can assure you staying/appearing ‘calm’ went out the window.Yes, mangosteens are THAT good. The guy mopping the floor was amused.
In my jubilee, I quickly took this picture and shared it with my best friend (who lives in Florida), who had been craving them ever since the last time she had them in Thailand. She’s missed them them so much, she dreams of eating them. I considered buying some, but since they were $8.00/lb, and were smaller than usual, I decided to walk away feeling content, comforted and happy after having discovered that mangosteens do exist in America. :)
Mangosteen. One of my favorite fruits! Been missing and craving this for years now! This post is especially dedicated to my best friend, Julie! Someday…someday soon, you and I will have the privilege of sharing a mangosteen afternoon! Miss ya, Julie! :)
