Collateral Circulation
During Bible study last Saturday afternoon, one of my friends (who is currently in nursing school) talked about collateral circulation. Collateral circulation takes place when an area of tissue or an organ has a number of several different pathways for blood to reach it. This usually takes place as a result of anastamoses - branches formed between adjacent blood vessels. For example, when a clot lodges itself above the external iliac artery, thereby cutting the supply of blood to the hind leg, collateral circulation finds a way to get enough blood to the leg tissues in order to keep them alive.
God’s unfailing, never-ending and often unrequited love is very much like collateral circulation. Sometimes, we unknowingly put a wall between us and God.
Just. Like. A. Clot.
This happens often. It happens when we are not ready or are scared to hear what God will do or say. It happens when we know what is right but would rather do the comfortable wrong instead of the uncomfortable right. It happens because of multiple reasons all sharing one common denominator. PRIDE.
No matter how many clots of pride we place in God’s way, He always finds a way to get His cleansing, life-giving and life-saving blood to us. His love always finds a way because…
HE. IS. LOVE.
